Voor de meeste bezoekers is de grootste sensatie bij de aankomst in Semarang de kans op een dagje naar de Borobudur, de boeddhistische tempel die door UNESCO tot werelderfgoed is uitgeroepen en teruggaat tot de 8e en 9e eeuw. Maar er is ook genoeg om u bezig te houden in en rond de stad zelf. Met meer dan 1 miljoen inwoners neemt Semarang een strategische plek in op Java’s noordkust en het is een van de interessantste havens in Zuidoost-Azië.
